History

The sports and trading stable Wettstein in Wermatswil near Uster not far from Zurich is a traditional family business wich has existed since 1833. It is run in the seventh generation by Ernst and Marie-Line Wettstein together with their younger daughter Estelle and offers ideal conditions for riders and horses.

At first, the farm was used for farming and livestock. In the 1960s, Max Wettstein, the 6th generation, started rearing the first foals. During this time, the name “Fohlenhof”, which is known far beyond the Uster region, was created, which his son Ernst Wettstein developed together with Marie-Line into today's sports and trading stable.

The beautiful and spacious riding facility has a large and a smaller riding hall, 15 hectares of fields and paddocks, a sand and grass area and modern, bright and spacious stables with 50 horse stalls.

With Ernst and Marie-Line Wettstein, two top-class trainers and successful competitions riders take care of the operation. They offer a diverse range of activities for amateur or international top-class sport in the disciplines of dressage and jumping, which is unique in Switzerland.

The two daughters of Ernst and Marie-Line Wettstein also share their passion for horses. With a lot of competence and experience, the parents support their daughter Estelle and also act as her trainers. The ambitious dressage and show jumping rider has been pursuing her successful sports career in both disciplines for many years and has been a member of the Swiss elite dressage squad since 2019. Estelle's older sister Aurélie had also established herself in the elite squad of Swiss show jumping athletes, but withdrew from top-class sport in 2015 in favor of studying and working.
